Christmas Nails

Hello! This week I'm going to share with you my Christmas nail art!

Christmas Festive Snowmen Santa Nail Art

I've had a terrible cold this week so I had no energy or patience to find any inspiration for my nails. For me a big part of nail art is designing the nails and choosing the colours and imagining how they will look on each nail before I paint them! Thankfully I felt a lot better yesterday so I managed to come up with these nails and I'm really pleased with them!

I knew I wanted to do a Christmas themed manicure but I wasn't sure what to do so I spent quite a bit of time on the internet researching what other people had done (I could literally spend hours doing this, oops!). In the end I found these nails by The Illustrated Nail and I felt really inspired! I chose to paint Christmas bells, Christmas puddings, Snowmen, Santa flying through the sky with his Reindeer and Holly leaves! These all scream Christmas to me!

I started this design by drawing out little nail shaped outlines on a piece of paper then drawing in the various designs from there to get the sizes right. I always find it difficult where to place the objects when painting repetitive patterns, like the Christmas puddings and snowmen in this design, as I can't seem to get them to look as though the design carries out where the nail ends, if that makes sense.

The nail varnishes I used from left to right are 'Cyan Blue', 'Strawberry Ice Cream', 'Turquoise', 'Blue Grape' and 'Sugar Apple'. Is it bad I only had to look at the bottle for one of those polishes? Haha! I thought I'd find the Santa nail on my ring finger really difficult but after drawing it on paper first it was quite simple and I spent less time on that nail than any other! Silhouettes are definitely more forgiving!

So there are my festive Christmas nails!

Hope you all have a very happy Christmas!
